Why do some cosplay photos resonate across borders, while others never leave their community? This talk reveals the hidden structure behind images that "travel" — not through technical perfection, but through visual storytelling that invites interpretation. Maki „mit“ Ishikawa

mit is a concept art photographer from Japan whose work explores how cosplay can become visual storytelling rather than simple character reproduction. By combining casting, costume creation, and photography into a single creative process, each image is treated as concept art rather than documentation. After presenting exhibitions and workshops across Asia, mit became fascinated by how the same image can trigger completely different interpretations depending on culture — leading to a search for visual storytelling that can travel beyond borders.
